Platinum / palladium thermocouples (Pt/Pd) are the most precise thermocouples manufactured by eXacal.

Stress-compensating design
The design of the measuring point enables stress-free expansion of the thermocouple wires.

Outstanding inhomogeneity
The high purity of 99.99 % and the thermal pre-treatment of the thermocouple wires ensure outstanding inhomogeneity.

Low measurement uncertainty and low drift
The achievable measurement uncertainties are approx. 2 times better than with type R/S thermocouples.

Pt/Pd thermocouples can be used in the temperature range from 0 °C to 1500 °C with very small measurement uncertainties. A special feature of this thermocouple is the use of a stress-compensating junction of the thermocouple wires. This special design ensures stress-free expansion of the platinum and palladium thermocouple wires. The different thermal expansion coefficients of the two thermocouple wires are thus equalised without mechanical stresses changing the Seebeck coefficient.
